Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson kicked off the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs® with a dramatic victory in the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Driving the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro, Larson held off some hard-charging threats to his victory in the late stages of the race. In order to score his third victory of the 2023 season, Larson had to weather some transmission issues and a brush with the wall. Still, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series® champion held strong and captured his 22nd career triumph.
